August 8 to August 24, 2008

Full details, including all medal winners from Athens are on the CD after the games.

1873 athletes won medals at Beijing (of whom 840 are females). The oldest medalist was Canadian equestrian rider Ian Millar who was 61 years old when his team won Silver at the Team Jumping event. This is the oldest medalist for 40 years.
The youngest was 15-year old Chinese diver Chen Ruolin. She won Gold in the two platform diving events (individual and synchronised).
Some doubts exist over the ages of a number of Chinese gymnasts whose year of birth must be at least 1992 to be eligible to compete. He Kexin was rumoured to be only 14 when she won two gold medals (team and asymmetrical bars). The rumour is denied by both He and Chinese authorities. The other gymnasts whose age was questioned by some are Jiang Yuyuan and Yang Yilin. More...
