Austria

Austria's first Olympic Champion was 20-year old swimmer Paul Neumann, who won the 500 m Freestyle event at Athens on 11 April 1896.

Between 1896 and 1936, 14 Austrian athletes won a total of 10 Olympic Gold medals at the Summer Games and 4 at Winter Games. In 1936 at Berlin, Austrian athletes had to compete for Germany, but are included in this list.
